Adult Taster Sewing Class: 17 November 6.30-8.30pm

Looking to start sewing? Thinking of buying a machine? Want to learn the basics to get sewing at home?

it’s always so much easier and quicker to be shown how to do this in person rather than struggling through a YouTube video!

join us for our adult taster session. In 2 hours you’ll get to know the sewing machine and learn:

– the basic functions and set up

– Use pattern paper to create your own tote bag  pattern to take home

– sew a fully lined tote bag with straps

You will need to bring  a metre of non-directional print fabric eg: plain/spits/florals In cotton or polycotton

We’ll also show you:

– pinning and cutting techniques

– simple bag construction

– creating rolled edged straps

– how to square out the base of your bag to create a more 3D look

Small group, friendly studio with experienced tutors to help you through each step. Sewing machines and all tools, pattern paper  and tea & coffee and notes to take home.

*As this is just a taster, and subject to timing of the group in each session, straps will be sewn or we will provide webbing to ensure everyone finishes
