Friday Sewing Club 4.30-5.30pmJanuary 20, 2017
Sewing Club Monday 5-6pm (10-14 years)
Our weekly sewing club for aspiring fashion designers on Mondays from 5-6pm is especially created for children from 10-14 years who have some experience of sewing on machines already and would like to focus on extending their skills and try some dressmaking.
Across the term we will work through a selection of garments learning how to read patterns, pin and sew correctly, measure, finish seams and create professional looking garments. We will also look at re-styling an existing garment as part of an up cycle project as well as a few general toy/accessory projects.
Our classes are designed for small groups commonly known as sewcial circles. They offer children an opportunity to learn new life skills, make friends and escape from the pressures of school and sport commitments and just be free to be creative in making things.
The session aims to increase machine sewing skills and gain confidence using the machine. We sew a variety of different projects putting these skills into practise. We concentrate on pattern understanding, a wide variety of projects and use of different skills and designing or adding individuality to projects.
Note to parents: when booking, please provide me with your child’s age, ability and brief summary of what they know / can sew. All the classes are carefully put together to ensure that each child can get maximum attention
Starts wc 25 April for the new term
