Adult Dressmakers Course : 5 weeks

Dates include:

20, 27 April and 4, 11, 18 May 10-1pm

what will I learn: 

Week 1: PJ trousers

Week 2: Choice of dress pattern: You’ll start by accurately measuring yourself, selecting the correct pattern pieces, cutting out the pattern, pinning and cutting out the fabric.

Week 3: Take a closer look at the pattern, understanding the steps then using our fabric cut pattern pieces we will start sewing our garments.

Week 4 & 5: Each week allows plenty of time for assistance, questions, unpicking (hopefully not) and ensures that everyone, no matter how fast or slowly you sew has plenty of time to finish.

The choice of patterns for this course includes:

1- The Foldline Everyday Dress

2- Tilly & the Buttons Cleo Dungaree Dress

3- Tilly & the Buttons Coco Dress (stretch)

what do I need to bring: 

For the first lesson you will need 2.5m of light to medium weight cotton, brushed cotton or a cotton lawn, in a non – directional print.
You will choose your dress patterns on day 1, and we will then discuss fabric requirements with each person so that you know what to bring for future lessons.

what is provided: 

Expert tuition, Janome machines, threads, tools, rotary cutters & mats, patterns to take home, notions, tea/coffee/biscuits

You must be able to thread up a machine, wind bobbin and sew straight lines to attend this class.  If you need a refresher or are starting out, why not try one of our beginner classes first to get you going.

All our classes offer small group tuition for best learning & maximum attention for each person in our friendly studio in East Sheen.
