Take advantage of September being a second Spring and learn something new before the end of 2023.
In just 3 weeks you’ll sew 3 new projects including: a cushion cover, a zipped makeup bag and a pair of pyjama trousers.
week 1: first we’ll teach you all the basics of the sewing machine : threading, winding on bobbin, how to change a needle, functionality and ensure that you feel confident to set up your machine and sew a cushion cover. You will need to bring 0.5m of non-directional print cotton or polycotton fabric.
week 2: you will need to bring in 2.5m of non-directional print cotton base fabric to sew your pyjama trousers. We’ll cover patterns, how to read & understand a basic pattern, pinning and cutting techniques, try our rotary cutters, hems, waistbands and how to insert elastic.
You’ll leave with a ready to wear pair of comfy bottoms and confidence to sew more at home.
week 3: this week will look at zips : how to insert them and sew a lined 3D box pouch.
you’ll need to bring in half a meter of non directional print cotton fabric for the outer bag, and half a metre for the lining (inside the bag) and a plastic zip.
what we provide:
Small group, friendly studio with experienced tutors to help you through each step. Sewing machines and all tools, pattern, elastic and interfacing as well as a cushion insert and tea & coffee and notes to take home.
If you need any help prior to the start of the course, please email us and we’ll be happy to assist.
